13th March – Phil Biggs – Traditional Watercolour

Inspired by the old book, ‘The Magic of Watercolour’ by James Fletcher-Watson, many years ago. Phil has spent his entire life mastering the art of watercolour painting.

10th April – Carl Knibb – Landscape Artist of the Year 2018

From his 16th century studio in Lichfield, Carl uses the interplay of light and shadow and space to truly create the sense of an object or place, and not just the ‘real’. He tries to explore both the movement and stillness of life, from the way people gather and separate on the street, to the quiet, fleeting moments of beauty that our landscape provides – those flashes when the world gives us a glimpse of something magical and timeless.

“The observation of light is integral to my work, as it both illuminates and disguises, changing our perceptions of the everyday into something extraordinary.”

8th May – Jenny O’Leary – Batik & Mixed Media

Working predominantly in batik (hot wax resist) on tissue paper and fabric. Using inks, dyes and bleach, she adds an exciting dimension to the process. A must see!

Visitors are especially welcome and they and members can get to know each other and chat over a glass of wine (or soft drink) at this very popular and well attended social event. Four of our leading artists will be demonstrating and discussing their work and processes in a fun and relaxed environment. There may also be a bargain to be had on our ‘objet d’art’ table or maybe in the auction – all to raise funds for the society.

11th September 2025 – Geoffrey Tristram – ‘Artist, Cartoonist & Comedy Writer’

A fabulous and visually entertaining evening with artist, cartoonist and comedy writer, Geoffry Tristram. It will be a humorous autobiographical ramble through Geoff’s event-filled life, with hilarious anecdotes about the trials and tribulations of a professional artist’s often chaotic existence. There are over a hundred beautiful paintings and funny cartoons to see.

13th November 2025 – Julia Timmins

An enthralling demonstration of Dry Pointing with audience participation. “It has been a natural progression for me to use my jewellery making  and designing skills to create prints.  I love to work from natural forms, plants, flowers and birds and I am continually inspired by my garden and  the surrounding Shropshire countryside. I respond to the rich patterns in nature and translate these into prints.”
