August 2026 sees long-serving Walsall Society of Artists committee members Elizabeth Whitehouse and Simon Tew holding a fabulously vibrant joint exhibition at the Rose Paterson Gallery.
Over the past two years, Simon & Elizabeth have worked together to bring this exhibition to life, and they are thrilled to finally share it with you.
Simon’s work celebrates the natural world and the animal kingdom. Through his paintings, he aims to capture the strength, beauty and spirit of these magnificent creatures, reflecting both their power and the grace with which they live in their natural environments.
Wildlife, equestrian subjects and pet portraits are Simon’s speciality and his passion. Working in a realistic style, he strives to portray every animal with careful attention to detail, movement and character, celebrating the unique qualities that make each one remarkable.

A contemporary painter based in the West Midlands, Elizabeth is passionate about representing the human form and honed her life drawing skills at the St. Ives School of Painting. She relishes the challenge of capturing a figure’s naturally intriguing shapes, angles, lines and poses.
Elizabeth’s love for all things vintage fuels her fascination with the social histories behind everyday items. Her extensive collection of vintage clothing is often directly featured in her paintings, or used as inspiration for colour, pattern or a backdrop to a figure. She also draws inspiration from old family photographs, transforming forgotten portraits into lively, vibrant paintings.
Her work reflects snippets of happy nostalgia, blending the charm of vintage fashion with dynamic facial expressions and poses.
