“I pick up tips and new ideas, from all of the demonstrations I’ve attended. Even if it’s in a completely different style to the way I work, I learn something new each month.”

An enthralling demonstration of Dry Pointing with audience participation. “It has been a natural progression for me to use my jewellery making and designing skills to create prints. I love to work from natural forms, plants, flowers and birds and I am continually inspired by my garden and the surrounding Shropshire countryside. I respond to the rich patterns in nature and translate these into prints.”

“While I consider myself to be a wildlife artist, I prefer to paint close up intimate portraits of animals as individuals, rather than in landscape settings. My aim is to capture not only the likeness of the subject in my painting, but also the life and soul in its eyes. To me, eyes are the most important aspect of a portrait – human or animal. People tell me they can see my paintings come to life through the eyes. My preferred medium is pastels on velour paper, which allows me to create both softness and detailed textures in my paintings.”
We promise to keep the AGM to a minimum Steve Woodhams our new Chair, will be stepping into the fray… After a break for refreshments, members can display work, talk about their techniques, get advice if they are not sure on what to do next. This is a social evening so give us your ideas on how we can shape the future of the WSA.
Pascale Bigot was born in France and enjoyed drawing from a young age; she studied Architecture and began attending evening classes at ‘Les Beaux Arts’, she started exhibiting her artwork in 1992 and is yet to stop. Since moving to England in 1994, with her family, she has developed her own techniques and ideas concerning the use of soft pastels and mixed media, using pastel as a base, and then adding paper, fabric, inks, acrylics, etc… Her subjects are extremely varied, ranging from landscapes to figurative, animal and flowers. Pascale shall be demonstrating the use of Polymer Clay where members can also have a go and be creative.
Following the success of his demonstration in 2025 he is returning with a demonstration of portraiture
Living in Lichfield, Staffordshire, Carl’s studio is a 16th century building in the historic heart of the city, just a stone’s throw from the medieval cathedral. Through his work Carl explores the interplay of light and shadow – the movement of life through spaces, both physical and ephemeral. Carl tries to walk the line of balance between representation and abstraction … to present the feel of an object or place, not just the look of it.

My practice as an Autistic Oriental Artist is inspired by my special interest in “Japan” and my deep-rooted connection to nature. I originally trained in the sciences and although I am no longer in that line of work, my knowledge of physics and chemistry still plays a part in guiding my creative spirit
A contemporary artist living in rural Staffordshire, her inspiration is taken from nature, painting the environment that surrounds me whether that be flora, fauna or landscapes. Debbie portrays the way we connect to nature, including the elemental forces, seasonal changes and the places where edges meet such as the coastline. She uses abstraction as a vehicle to portray the deep emotions felt within nature on the canvas. In her latest collection Nature Awakes she explores the joy we feel as the seasons change, when the warmer days arrive and the natural world fills with colour.
Jeanette’s medium of choice is watercolour, though she uses all manner of paint and materials. The serendipitous behaviour of watercolour is a thrill and a challenge, her inspiration is in movement, light, fast moving energy. Watercolour and inks by their flowing nature are the ideal mediums to use. Jeanette’s subjects are varied, animals especially dogs and horses are her favourites, as we have such a strong emotional connection with them. I especially enjoy to semi abstract the natural world. So overwhelmed and moved by everything. Creating through the medium of art is to reflect such wonder.
