Thursday 11th July, CLAIRE COOPER-WALSH.
Posted on Jul 08, 2019Transformations, mixed media.
Admiring the work of Hundertwasser, I am very much looking forward to the demonstration this week.
Claire lived and worked in Scotland for 18 years, before moving to Worcestershire in 2010. She has worked in a variety of media including textiles and printmaking.
Over the last 10 years she has worked in mixed media, and is also learning the crafts of weaving and felt-making.
Claire has undertaken various private painting commissions and also a textiles commission for the Archdiocese of Edinburgh, to produce a Lourdes pilgimage banner.
She has always been inspired by the textures, colours and shapes found in nature, and over the years her work has become more abstract to reflect her fascination
with colour and how it works with different textures and materials. Her work is now very richly layered and harks back, in many ways, to the textiles work she produced some years ago.
She is very much influenced by the work of Hundertwasser, Klimt, and Andy Goldsworthy to name but a few.
Having looked at Claire’s work online these influences are very much in evidence.
