Sharpen Your Pencils

Get yourself ready for the Walsall Society of Artists Exhibition of Drawings

Drawn Diamonds 25th April – 29th May

Open Call from 6th March – 13th April

Drawing is fundamental to all artists it’s where we start our ideas, for a sculpture, painting, jewelry, ceramics, the list goes on. This is how we as artists interrogate our subject; it doesn’t matter what medium we use a traditional pencil, biro, chalk, or pastel. I love to use charcoal, layers of dust and marks to excavate the image from the paper. Messy ink and feathers, I usually end up with more on me than the paper. When is a doodle not a drawing? I remember talking to someone who said they didn’t draw but doodled his ideas on bits of paper to hand. These were his thought processes before creating a final piece, yes I call them drawings, we so often under-value our scribblings.

To get our creative juices flowing Delilah has set up Three FREE Drawing sessions for you to join in with.
