14th April – David Birtwhistle – Watercolour
Posted on Apr 01, 2016In April we see a return of water colourist David Birtwhistle.
Initially David was apprenticed as a block printmaker, he studied etching at Falmouth School of Art and he qualified as an architect, practising in Worcester until 1980. He had his first exhibition in Greenwich in 1970 and he has continued, as a solo artist and with various societies, to exhibit throughout the UK. He has taken on many commissions and so many of his watercolours have been reproduced as cards. One of his clients being the National Trust for whom he produced works depicting historical architecture and landscapes.
David has become particularly well known for his scenes of Worcester Cathedral and the river Severn.
I seem to remember he painted a scene from his travels in Venice last time he came to us.
