WSA@Walsall MakerFest
Posted on Sep 30, 2024Unfortunately I was unable to do this but I do have a report from another WSA member.
‘We got there about 11 o’clock. The crowd was amazing, and tents, all very neat, stretched from the Art Gallery almost up to the church. The main event took place in front of the gallery and people were drawn to this; there was dancing and music and fantastic acrobats, all young people who were so enthusiastic
The stalls offered jewellery, pottery, beautiful leather wares, clothing, paintings, and, of course, lots of finger foods.
There were special activities and amusements for children, We met enthusiastic watercolour painters taking on the monument of Sister Dora and surroundings; there was even a fire eater trying to attract the crowd.
It was well thought out and organised. I have the impression that it might be the start of many such events in Walsall in the future.
WSA members who took part in Maker Fest thoroughly enjoyed it and found volunteers to be really helpful, next year they want something on their stalls to indicate they are WSA members, what a great idea.
Sounds as if it was a good day. Lets hope it is the beginning of more creative events organised in the town.
We have the creativity, it’s time it was showcased.
There’s a short film of the event on our facebook page.
