Nature of Colour in Memory of Pauline Astle
The Crossing Gallery 28th March – 24th April Mon – Sat: 9am – 4pm

The Crossing Gallery
This is Walsall Society of Artists permanent Gallery. The exhibitions change here every month and April was to be Pauline’s Solo Exhibition entitled “The Nature of Colour”.
As a mark of respect to Pauline we continued with the exhibition title and theme to mount an Exhibition in Pauline’s memory.
There is an array of colourful artworks on display by the WSA members.
Pauline said “when we stop to gaze at a landscape our senses drink in the beautiful colours, textures, sounds and smells around us; putting aside the stresses of everyday life to be in the moment”. Through the use of light, colour and texture she endeavoured to capture the feeling of this precious moment in her paintings. Every walk whether it was on a beautiful beach or a local park, gave Pauline further inspiration for her paintings. Working from photographs and sketches, Pauline painted predominantly in oil which allowed her to build up thick and thin layers, soft and hard edges, smooth or textural marks.
Pauline was a generous and beautiful person, from the moment she joined the WSA Pauline designed posters for exhibitions, redesigned the Annual Exhibition Catalogue. Pauline will be sadly missed by everyone at the Walsall Society of Artists.
Jude Hanly & Sarah Fortes Mayer
Last year Jude won a solo exhibition here at the Footprint Gallery.
It was such a large space she invited sculptor Sarah Fortes Mayer to share the space with her thought provoking bodies.

Fleeting Moments at Footprint Gallery

This canvas was created on the beach after an afternoon snorkeling
Jude is exhibiting a huge 5 metre long painting entitled “Come Walk With Me”. This was her covid walk at a local nature reserve where the once scared landscape, has now been re-wilded by nature. At times a bleak, dismal, and muddy walk, this morning it became cathedral like, back lit by the low sun glowing through the new spring leaves.
Footprint Gallery is located in the beautiful Ironbridge Gorge Trail. Footprint Gallery, Fusion, Church Road, Jackfield. TF8 7AH
Open Daily 10am – 4pm

Ispahani is currently exhibiting at the Herbert Gallery Coventry.
His beautiful detailed drawing entitled “Memories in Stone” is a tribute to the unbreakable bonds of family, tradition, and heritage. Through the simple yet profound act of hair-plaiting, generations intertwine, carrying forward love, resilience, and a shared history.

This piece reflects how memories are etched in both time and stone, uniting the past with the present.
