ENTER SKY LANDSCAPE/PORTRAIT ARTIST OF THE YEAR 2019

Sky Arts: Portrait Artist & Landscape Artist of the Year Competitions

Do you have what it takes to be Sky Arts Artist of the year?  You could win £10,000 commission from a major British institution and £500 worth of art materials from Cass Arts.

Enter with a self-portrait or a landscape painting depending in which competition you’re applying for. Artists selected to take part in the heats have four hours to paint either a celebrity sitter or a specific landscape within the UK. The Portrait competition heats will be filmed at the Wallace collection in London towards the end of April/beginning of May.

We’re very proud of the fact that beyond an entertaining television series the series has become a reputable art competition in its own right. Unlike the competition format TV series that many are familiar with, we do not cast for characters – choosing instead to have our expert panel of judges select participants based on the quality of their submission painting. The success of the programme depends on the standard of the art produced, so from the outset the programme is a genuine celebration of good art and an intelligent, fascinating examination of the artistic process.

Regardless of whether or not they win the amazing prize of a £10,000 commission, due to the encouraging and uplifting tone of the series artists who participate comment, without fail, that their experience of taking part was not only positive for their career in terms of the exposure, but also thoroughly enjoyable and surprisingly useful for their evolution as an artist.
