In the New Walsall Art Gallery part of the Wolverhampton Literature Festival
As part of our 73rd Annual Exhibition at the New Art Gallery Walsall, the Walsall poets presented poems inspired by the artwork in the exhibition. The Artists also talked about their own inspiration used to create the artwork.
These events built upon a successful collaborative exhibition and events between Waslall Society of Artists and Walsall Poets at St Pauls Gallery the Crossings, Walsall, in September 2023
“These were lively and fascinating events, do come along to the Community Gallery to view the the poems and artwork which inspired them”.
Artists and Audience, “were moved to tears”
Artists and audience were “moved to tears” by the Poets’ poems, “I was humbled that my painting could inspire such beautiful words” It was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday afternoon, listening to the Poets recite their poems, and Artists speak about the inspiration for there artwork.
“ I was fascinated to hear the poets’ interpretations of the artworks and how they differed from each other and the artists”.
“I’m so proud that someone’s wrote a poem about my artwork.”
“That’s exciting news. I’ve never inspired anyone before!”
“It very gratifying that someone liked my picture enough to write a poem about it. I don’t think has happened to me before.”
“The event was for me very involving and for the art society I hope successful. I’ve never attended anything like this before. A very good idea of someone’s. Thank you and the society for a different and rewarding afternoon.”
